Beach, a playground for children and adults. Memorable, our visit to the beach. Castles, and other structures are built, on sand and with sand, by young and old is a timeless human activity. Young and old, irrelevant of age, are children on the shorelines. Age, in front of the mighty ocean, which has witnessed humanity for eons is not a factor. One hundred years, or one month, or one day, when measured against billions of years is trivial. Oceans have witnessed billions of human generations; we are familiar to him. Our age is trivial; he considers the age of humanity to allow us to build castles on his terrain. Like a king of the jungle allowing thousands of species to roam his domain, oceans allow human enthrallment in his abode. We are a familiar entity to him; our gadgets and technology cannot provide protection when he roars. Are we enthralled on sandy beaches, or is it yet another casual day in our busy lives on the shore: a protector of humanity!
Shore, just a collection of granular sand, few meters wide, and a playground for humanity. Our day on the beach is memorable, but forgetful of the silent greatness of the shore. A playground for young and old, what could a beach be hiding for humanity to discover? Or should we ponder how a shoreline, few meters in width and depth, could hold back the mighty ocean’s waves. Oceans, relentlessly, push waves ashore, atoms of water eager to escape the ocean’s tyranny crash land on a beach to evaporate into a cloud. Clouds, which in turn gathers every atom of water to return as rain. How do the water molecules shed the salinity when they escape the burden of life on Earth? Sentient and insentient, identical pursuits. Inescapable system. What a beautiful prison, life! Humanity, like an atom of water on the crest of a wave in the ocean, pursues relentless escape routes. Newspaper, radio, TV, sports, entertainment, phone, internet, and myriad other methods to escape the tyranny of life.
Beach witnessed, and cleansed trillions of gallons of salinity of the water molecule and safely returned life’s foundational element, with the aid of Sun, to the cradle of birth unharmed. What system does humanity possess to return us to the cradle of our birth? Ocean, with paternal instincts, is ever angry and eager to discard disobedient water droplets, and the maternal shoreline is a barrier to the paternal anger. Imagine the plight of humanity if the maternal barrier did not exist? Shoreline is not mighty as the oceans, but the sheer strength to hold back the wrath of the oceans is immense. When the ocean breaches, humanity flees. Isn’t that what we witness in our personal life too. A child seeks shelter with the mother when the father is enraged. Where does an adult seek shelter? Is there not a shoreline for humanity?
How intelligent has to be the shoreline of an ocean? Our beaches work relentlessly. Work can, only, be performed with intelligence. Removing salinity, evaporating water droplets, providing a barrier for humanity, womb to turtle eggs, and playground for humanity. We do not define it as work, but any task nature does is work. It produces tangible results for all species. Invisible power of the shoreline. Few meters in width and depth. Untiringly delivers immeasurable results. Intelligence exists, only, in organic systems. Isn’t the shoreline an organic system? It is replete with life enhancing properties. Life rests on life inducing and enhancing systems. What results do we deliver to nature with the work we perform?
Grains of sand cling to us when we venture onto the beach. Insentient particles invade our lives. Why? Unless we shower, they remain lodged on our body. Sand particles are developing a bond with humanity to escape the punishing life of an insentient on a shoreline. It recognized the strength of our greatness and superiority. A contact with greatness releases life from the clutches of the mundane activity that we witness in our Universe. A particle of sand possesses the intellect to recognize the value of human beings. Washed off our body, the sand particle commences a new journey. A journey to reach a human body. We may not know, or understand the travails of the sand particle to become useful enough to take birth in a human body, but the journey of every atom in this Universe is to become a human. The ultimate destination for life in this Universe is to become a human being.
Thus, we must have in our possession something far more valuable than mere life. For, life exists in various forms on Earth. Nature works tirelessly, but rewards for that work remain unattainable. When we work, we are rewarded with pay, and it leads to enjoyment. What does nature get from the work it performs? Expectation of a reward is natural. Unrewarding work is summarily dismissed sentient, or insentient. An insentient phone would not work without charge. We reward the phone with energy for it to work. Have we not rewarded the phone with charge? When an instrument we hold as valuable cannot perform tasks without rewarding, why would nature work without reward? Nature is intellectually superior to a phone. Reward is sought by nature, too, in an invisible way. Existence is a rewarding and rich experience for sentient, and insentient alike.
Existence of a shoreline for humanity, logically, has to be conclusive when seen through the lens of interdependence between us and nature. Just as humanity cannot survive, physically, without the threshold of a beach, a philosophical threshold for growth of humanity must exist. Survival of humanity at a physical level, only, renders us as a useless entity. Existence in useless conditions is impossible. Our shoreline is not a new and improved discovery. It existed before. It exists, now, in an invisible capacity. It will return as a Post-Modern reality.
