A movement in our mind is emotion. If the movement is favorable to our disposition, we find comfort, and happiness. A provocative movement in our mind leads to fear, anxiety, and outburst. It occurs lightning fast. Mind, a powerful tool for humanity, exists in the nucleus of our soul. Life, governed by our mind, endures an emotional rollercoaster ride. Highs and lows, joy and sorrow, fear and anger, and every emotion we experience in our lives is flashes of movements in the depths of our mind. A favorable flash brings momentary joy; unfavorable flash triggers outburst. Our lives mirror the existential nature of our mind. Mind in a happy state, life exists in balance. Disturbed mind leads to conflicted external projection in life. The evanescent flashes in our mind can be ascertained observationally. A flash of anger, or joy dissipates as the intensity of the movement reduces in our mind. Our dismissal of emotions to regain balance provides ample proof for the fleeting quality. Every emotion we experience is fleeting in nature. We refrain from making emotion-based decisions because it will lead to regret in life. Every one of us would have experienced this life. Emotional permanence is a myth. It would handicap our life completely. Emotions, conclusively, are not powerful to control and guide our lives. Emotional existence weakens the strength of our lives. Human existence, as a superior race, is on the merit of intellectual superiority. We do not exist like animals guided by emotions every moment. Animals, which are not aware of the existence of mind, are completely governed by their minds. Human race should be governed by intellect.
Emotion is weak; intelligence is strength. They are opposites like the poles. How did these two words merge to create uber-intelligence? Emotional Intelligence (EI) is viewed and treated as a new flavor of intelligence by the media. We are treated to stories depicting the power of deploying EI. Books have been published; classes are offered. Global Leadership Foundation has developed an EI test. Amazon lists hundreds of books on EI. Where did these authors master EI? Who coached them? Will humanity suffer extinction if we fail to exhibit EI? Does EI bring about equanimity in society? How did our ancestors survive without EI? Who was the first person exhibiting EI, and how did he/she stumble upon a novel concept? How do we raise future generations? How is it being offered in classrooms? Are all the educators qualified and trained in EI? If not, should we suspend all activities until we bring humanity to exhibit EI. We should have many questions about an uber-state being ushered in without human consultation. For, society is not a dustbin to strew with absurd concepts to toss a new flavor of operational philosophy at the will of a few.
EI is defined as the ability to understand, use, and manage emotions in a positive way. Why should emotions be managed? We experience myriad emotions. They evaporate in front of our eyes. EI should be seen through the lens of impermanent emotions to discover the absurdity of the concept. Emotion need not be a discardable experience, but building an intelligent structure around emotion is nonsensical and foolish. Humanity, or life cannot be sustained with artificial flora and fauna. Life has existed for eons intelligently, and concepts like EI are deliberately designed to create an unrestful human existence. Exhibiting intelligence is our natural trait. Every one of us possesses intelligence. It has to be awakened because we are cultured beings. Modernity undermines ancestral culture, and attempts to create uber-culture in the name of progress, and shifts the locus of existence to orbit around an unnatural and imaginary nucleus of life.
Humanity must awaken to the fact that uber-existence of everything in this cosmos is physically impossible. EI is an uber-concept of intelligence. It is artificial. It is fashionable today. Tomorrow it will cease to exist just as an emotion is short lived. Modernity experimenting with life without developing a complete understanding of life is also an emotion. It will end. Post-Modern era will dawn in the coming years to end the reign of absurdity.
