The World Economic Forum – Dr. (Hon) Rajanikanth Vangipuram

Let us dwell on notable quotes from the world leaders gathered at the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.

Guy Parmelin, President of Switzerland. “Society, science, economics and politics must work together hand in hand, in a spirit of partnership,” he said. “Otherwise, problems can only be addressed in a partial and imperfect manner.”

Ursula von der Leyen, President of EU Commission, “Europe will always choose the world, and the world is ready to choose Europe,” she said. Amid ongoing US threat to take over Greenland, von der Leyen added that Europe “needs to adjust to a new security architecture.”

He Lifeng, Vice Premier, People’s Republic of China, urged countries to pursue economic cooperation, noting that “tariffs and trade wars have no winners.” He added that “while economic globalization is not perfect,” countries “can not completely reject it and retreat to self-isolation.”

Emmanuel Macron, President, France, said “we are living through a profound global shift.” “Faced with the brutalization of the world, France and Europe must defend an effective multilateralism,” he said, adding that “it serves our interests and those of all who refuse to submit to the rule of force.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minster, Qatar, said “We need to address those root causes,” he says, adding that “the moment has come for the region to come together and to think about how we can reshape our security architecture so that at least we ensure that we are not representing a threat for each other.”

Mark Carney, Prime Minister, Canada. “For decades, countries like Canada prospered under what we called the rules-based international order,” he said. “We joined its institutions, we praised its principles, we benefited from its predictability… this bargain no longer works.”

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President, Egypt. “The world today faces monumental challenges,” he said, urging cooperation to “seize the opportunities for the good and mutual benefit of our nations.”

Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of Germany, “the most profound ramifications for freedom, security and prosperity.” “We must face harsh realities and chart our course with clear-eyed realism, he said, noting that “our greatest strength remains the ability to build partnerships and alliances among equals.”

Larry Fink, CEO, Blackrock. “Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, more wealth has been created than in all prior human history combined,” the world’s most powerful asset manager said. Most of it has accrued to the kinds of people who attend Davos.” “Now AI threatens to replay the same pattern,” Fink warns. “If AI does to white-collar work what globalization did to blue-collar, we need to confront that directly.”

One thing is blatantly missing from the statements above. The same theme repeats year after year, problems. The futility of the annual meeting in Davos is colossal. Everyone talked about problems in the world. None talked about solutions to the problems. They cannot offer solutions because no one attending Davos understands the basics of life. Reflect on Mr. Fink’s statement on wealth creation. He has eliminated the doer in wealth creation. Creation in our natural world requires three things to come together. A Desire, Desirer, and Ability exist in creation. Mere desire and desirer cannot create; similarly, ability and Desirer cannot create either. All three must exist for creation. This is a universal tenet. Every object, in nature and in our world, has these three components; intelligence, desire, and doer. How can Mr. Fink assume that he created wealth independently? If wealth flowed to the Davos attendees, he is admitting that the third element in creation has been forgotten. The problems in the world exist because the doer component of creation has been sidelined. The doer’s ability is mandatory for creation. The doer is unrepresented at the Davos forum. Will the problems facing the doer of the world ever go away from the vapid statements made year after year by the same crowd?

Is there a person in the world who can reveal the truth to the leaders of the world gathered at The World Economic Forum? Will they listen? Their survival depends on an endless discussion of issues. If issues fail, they will create artificial problems. This has been the blueprint throughout the history of Western domination. The academia, scholars, experts, political and business leaders, and many others silently participate in the slow and methodical erosion of human identity. Every election is contested on the same theme of ‘this is the greatest election of our lifetime.’ The language is unchanging. Yet the population who did not attend the Davos forum is not even a spectator. We are removed from the process of decision making: the only word we hear is problems, and the only thing we witness in life is problems.

Problem creators cannot solve problems. People need to unchain from systemic rot. The Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, said the rules-based order of the world is ruptured. Yet life continues in a ruptured world! Why has the world’s population become docile? A G7 Prime Minister announces the existential system’s rupture received stoically is a testament to the impotency of the doer. The doer is a patient admitted to ICU and left uncared. Stunning silence in the media. If what the PM admitted has merit, surely, we need an intense discussion, counter measures, and the ability to implement corrective measures quickly. Carney further stated that despite knowing the falsehood about the rules-based order, the world leaders silently accepted it after World War II. The emergence of BRICS, and the nationalist sentiments across the world, the independent foreign and domestic policies of nations like Russia, China, India, and Brazil have, finally, revealed the rupture to the Western leaders.

It is imperative to discover why there is a structural collapse in the world? Why should humanity be succumbing to a learned helplessness? The answer lies in education. Education is fragmented and weakened. It should strengthen young minds; parents, schools, and educators are the shepherds of life’s shorelines. The shorelines of life have been quietly removed from society. Our life has been externalized. The ebb and flow of life is no longer an internal process. It is in the hands of the God’s of modernity. These gods are merciless. They are not students of life. Their paths do not cross ordinary lives. They obey the laws of economics, finance, capitalism, and innovation; we obey the laws of our lives. The thread of life is not an integral part of modern education. Shattered systems cannot be pieced together ever. Disconnected from reality, the leaders at the Davos forum cannot offer anything new other than communicating about the dire situations facing humanity. Why are we listening to people who are incapable of offering solutions?

Understanding the predicament of human struggles requires a deeper dive into life. In the present times we are conflating information, discovery and innovation with intelligence. Products that lessen existential burdens like cellphones, cars, and computers as enhancements in life. We see these products as essential in our lives because the speed of doing a task is accelerated. Every aspect of existence is outsourced to an external object. We expect coffeemakers to prepare coffee when we wake up. Our duty is pouring and drinking. Ease of existence does not equate to ease of life. It robs us of our self-responsibility to our needs; unless we utilize the time saved, in preparing coffee, is devoted to a higher pursuit. We have gained time through speed of processes, but time gained is squandered in worthless pursuits. A dissonance between responsibility and existential convenience is created in our lives. This disagreement is at the root of all problems for humans. The force of life, nature, pressures the superior race to discover and awaken to responsibility.

Education is the bedrock of human civilization. It must teach us humility and responsibility toward the self, to the broader community, and to nature. The Desire, Desirer, and the Doer must come into sharp focus in our minds. Every object we utilize is the result of a Desire. Our birth is the result of a Desire too. This is a law of nature. Manifestation is feasible when desire is activated. Desire is not an abstract quality; it resides inside an object. That object is the Desirer. Just like quality, sweetness, resides inside sugarcane, desire and desirer are integrated intricately. The doer is also an integral part of manifest reality. Desire, Desirer, and the Doer are all integral parts of the manifest universe. In such a world, Mr. Fink claiming wealth generation as the greatest achievement of the modern era is excluding the doer. He is uneducated; because he is a product of a system rooted to mechanical inputs and outputs of a modern binary world. The awareness of the doer is missing from all fields of study. The world will continue to struggle unless we enrich our minds that in the manifest world Desire, Desirer, and the Doer are not one entity. The World Economic Forum will meet year after year tackling the same problem, and the wealthy will lament and parade shamelessly about the condition of the doer. Education requires revitalization efforts to see change in the lives of the ordinary.
