Economy, which is a system of measuring production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, cannot serve humanity when it is unconnected with the natural system of life. In fact, it will collapse. We have erected life on lifeless artificial systems. We are looking forward to a time in future when these systems will serve the needs of humanity. Over a century of life on these modern economic systems has not yielded what the human race can deem as satisfactory. The performance is woefully inadequate. What promise holds for the next century? The present economic model values life supporting food producers trivially; values insentient and unintelligent equipment makers astronomically high. We cannot sustain an imbalance of value between nourishment and entertainment. Nourishment will always supersede entertainment. This is an unalterable fact.
Natural system is a nourisher, and promoter of life. It continually regenerates to sustain living mechanisms. It does not abandon or alienate a single species. An impeccable system. A dependable system. All the human erected edifices will collapse because they are designed to function independent of natural systems. They are unsupportive of life. They do not promote life. They starve life. How can these systems survive when humanity struggles, or if the population is decimated due to a natural calamity? They will not survive should be a foregone conclusion in our minds.
Evaluate cellular phones retailing at approximately $100 approximately 20 years back and selling for $1300 plus today. An increase of 1200% over 20 years, with an annual inflation of 60%. Juxtapose that with milk. 20 Years back milk retailed for about $2.50 a gallon. Today it sells for approximately $4.00. An average increase of 3% annually. If this makes economic sense to humanity, I will have to rethink my thought process. How can we justify such an atrocious value inversion? Where is the human race headed when our value system is miscalculated? We are responsible for our actions when we undervalue nourishment and overvalue entertainment.
Do economists think that the inversion of values will continue far into the future? What thought governs their action is unknown to us. Observe the market reactions to the Federal Reserve Chair’s suggestion of hiking interest rates recently. Market reacted adversely to the rate hike. Who is right? Market, or Fed Chair? Do they come to opposite conclusions based on the same data? Or does the data differ? Whatever reasons that prompt the Fed Chair to hike rates should also be valid with markets too. This dance with interest rates is absurd. Does the market, or Fed Chair have a care for the public? The ordinary public is oblivious to the economic triggers pulled by people at the helm of the Federal Reserve. We continue with our lives whether the economy is under inflationary, or recessionary pressure. Economy is not governing our essential choices. Our lives move ahead with, without jobs. If help is needed in our lives, we find it.
Our natural system of life is enabling us to live despite facing economic hardships. Economic system is failing us when we are in despair. It is obvious for the many who were victimized by the economic levers pulled to keep a system in an elusive peak state. Whether in peak or weakened state, economic benefits for most of us are zero. Vested interests are the beneficiaries. Why does humanity place a value on this dysfunctional and artificial system erected upon humanity?
We are participating in this system without questioning and getting punished in the process with laughable valuations. How many of us can claim that we will be an influencer in a system that weakens us existentially? Influencers, and influenced is the new order in life. Punishment and rewards are already part of nature. We are born destined to receive both. We are being punished or rewarded by our past deeds. How else can we see ourselves? Who among us will choose a life of penury? People are born into various molds relentlessly. Carnal desires bring male and female close, and the result is a child. Why does it not dawn on the poor to refrain from intimacy? They can avoid a poor soul to enter this world. If life were to be such a simple thought, then we would not require all the ancestral heritage to understand our condition in life. These children who come into existence are destined for suffering. That is their fate. However, few of us who are doing better than the poor among us should step up to provide bare minimum food. A human, whether learned, or unlearned, deserves food, shelter, and clothing. We should always be decorated with these minimums. Are we not worse than animals under any circumstances? The suffering of the soul will not be taken away. It will be transformed by our humanitarian gesture. Every one of us who does not rise to meet this challenge facing humanity will endure a difficult onward journey because of our irresponsibility. Every system that we have erected will also suffer consequences from their irresponsibility. This is a natural law. We need to witness life from understanding the natural processes governing our existence.
Our evaluation of economic systems, capitalism, democracy, liberal, conservative, nationalist, centrist, educational systems, and every modern structure on which humanity rests must be reexamined to see if it fits with the natural order of life. If it does not, it should be abandoned immediately. We need to withdraw from an irresponsible podium, and act responsibly to see artificial problems vanish from our lives. Because what is masquerading as problems are not problems. It is irresponsibility. Problems will not exist in this universe without solutions is a natural law as well. Air is not a problem. Water is not a problem. Food is not a problem. Humanity never suffers from lack of these needs. This is an emerging trend of modernity, not part of our ancestral heritage is clear from Sanaatana.Sri Rama, during his exile, traveled in the forests from hermitage to hermitage. The ascetics reminded Sri Rama that a sixth of the benefits of the rituals and traditions they practice are received by his kingdom and sought his protection from forces seeking to disrupt their practices. What are the benefits of an ascetics’ practices? Prosperity of the environment with timely rains, and consequently crop yields are the economic benefit Sri Rama’s kingdom derived. Economic considerations are not new to humanity. It existed from time immemorial. Economic system unconnected with life is a modern invention. Usefulness holds temporary value. Sustainable, it is not. Natural order will prevail acceptingly, or not is a post-modern truth. How can humanity choose is the pursuit of the Center for Post-Modern Studies.
