Ageless Time

A day in the modern calendar never repeats. Discrete, and noncontinuous. Nature is linked, and continuous. Measurement of time must be compatible with nature too. Every tool human race utilizes must employ principles of nature for usefulness. How useful is the Geological Time Scale for humanity? Scientists may find usefulness in a narrow context. Determining age of the Universe on the strength of an instrument’s ability assumes nature would reveal her mysteries to an insentient, and human invented machine. Does a woman reveal her mind unlovingly? Nature is feminine in character. She will not disclose her origins to a mechanical instrument. 

I exist. I exist, transitions to I existed. Body left behind. I exist, and I existed, both, cannot be denied. I exist has origins. I transformed. I journeyed forward from this body. Nature is an instrument of transformation. It exists for the sole purpose to transform every entity, micro, and macro. Bheeshma, a famous character from the Yugam just ended 5,123 years back, reveals a conversation with ‘Keetaka’ (an insect), to Dharmaraj. Bheeshma was about to kill an insect accidentally. Keetaka stops him to ask why he would like to deny the pleasure of the life of an insect. Bheeshma questions the Keetaka how could there be pleasure in living as an insect? The insect explains to Bheeshma how it was in a human body, and led a life unworthy of human existence, and as a result of the misadventures, it took birth as an insect. Keetaka reveals to Bheeshma that it hopes to take birth, once again, in a human body in the future.

The conversation between Bheeshma, and Keetaka is improbable to comprehend in existing times. It is easy to dismiss, and deny this as an imaginary account. We need evidentiary proof to dismiss conclusively. It behooves us to discover the narration of Bheeshma with Keetaka when we don’t possess proof to disavow. When we converse with each other, we are imposing our existence on the body, and assume two bodies are engaged in a tete a tete. We fail to connect with the truth that the body is perishable. A conversation is truly a communication between souls. For, communication is an intelligent activity. Intelligence is not a property of the physical body. Body is a tool, and like all tools it is at the disposal of the user. Bheeshma, and Keetaka’s conversation was between souls. Our ancestors knew how to connect with the soul of everything in nature. Therefore, they could reveal secrets that we are yet to discover.

Modernity exists denying ancestral heritage as unscientific. We are conditioned to think that scientific thought, and processes are superior. If it were truly superior, the problem does not exist. Self-imposed superiority disallowing the existence of ancestral grandness is reckless, and calamitous. Modernity disallows ancestry with ignorance; it is not evidence based. Ancestors calculated with impeccable accuracy the progression of time for 1.96 billion years. Is the Universe then, 1.96 billion years old! No, it is much older. Throughout the span, humanity existed.

We discovered that a Kalpa is 1000 Mahayugas. Each Mahyuga is 4,320,000, hence Kalpa has a duration of 4,320,000,000 years. A Kalpa is the daytime of Brahma, who is the creator. Nighttime of Brahma is of equal duration. Thus, a day of Brahma is equal to 8,640,000,000 human years. Brahma’s day consists of 24 hours just like on Earth, but in human years the duration is 8.64 billion years. His day consists of day and night just as on Earth. His life expectancy is 100 years, just as our life expectancy is 100 years. Unlike human life, Brahma possesses the ability to live the full duration. Brahma’s year is 360 Brahma days. A year of Brahma, therefore, is 3.11 trillion human years. Brahma’s life, thus, is 311 trillion human years. 

We have identified, yesterday, that we journeyed 1.96 billion years in the present age. Naturally, we should be eager to find out if we can compute Brahma’s age with accuracy. A Vedic scholar recites our existence with respect to Brahma’s accurate age daily. Let us examine.

  • Adhya Brahmanaha. Meaning the present Brahma occupying the office of creation. Many Brahmas have come and gone is conveyed, just like we refer to the occupier of White House as the first president, and so on. The office exists with different occupants. Brahma’s office exists as well, and the present occupier is who is referenced in that statement. 
  • Dwitheeya Pararthe. This statement says the present Brahma has completed his first 50 years of life. He is in 51st year. Brahma’s life is 311 trillion human years. By referencing his 51st year, 155.5 trillion human years are counted with ease. It continues with Vaivaswatha Manvatnara, and so on. His life is counted to the exact second. 

How many Brahmas have come, gone. Uncountable. It would, only, add more zeros to the right of trillions. We have a difficult time visualizing a billion. How can we visualize the cyclical vastness beyond what our ancestors bequeathed us? It is sufficient to know that time, and the universe are ageless. Our universe has dual states of existence: subtle, and manifest. It oscillates between subtle, and manifest forms. We existed in subtle form, and we exist in manifest form. We journeyed through ageless time to take birth as a human. An instrument that can deliver the ultimate reward of escaping birth, and death cycles. 

We are awed by modernity, and the conveniences it offers in life. Should we not marvel, equally, at our ancestral wisdom who witnessed vastness of life? Modernity is a bubble. Ancestry is a mountain. A bubble cannot challenge the mountain of ancestry. We can continue with modern existence; however, when we include ancestral wisdom, our lives will blossom. Our existence is dependent upon ancestry even in modern times will be an emerging Post-Modern reality.
